Faculty Research Assistant, START
Mary Michael was a faculty research assistant for the Global Terrorism Database (GTD) at START. In 2006, Michael earned a B.A. in government and politics and a B.A. in French language and literature from the University of Maryland. She has previously worked as coordinator for START’s Minorities at Risk project and the CIDCM in which her research focused on ethnic politics and political violence. In her work as coordinator, she assisted the oversight and collection of data for three projects: Minorities at Risk, Minorities at Risk Organizational Behavior and Political Organizations Database. She has collected extensive data on ethnically-based Middle Eastern organizations and has a special interest in sub-Saharan African ethnic politics.
