Michael Jensen attends Eradicate Hate Global Summit in Pittsburgh

START Senior Researcher Michael Jensen participated in a data project to support the Eradicate Hate Global Summit in Pittsburgh, Pa. in October, alongside organizations such as the George Washington University (GWU) Program on Extremism (POE), Moonshot CVE and Microsoft.

The Eradicate Hate Global Summit is a three-day conference which seeks to bring together experts from different fields to discuss how to combat the global rise in hate and extremism.

Jensen, who is a researcher on START’s Radicalization and Disengagement (RaD) team, also participated in a panel event titled “This is Your Brain on Hate.” The panel explored the human factors of extremism, drawing on principles from physics, computer science, brain science and social science.

The panel also featured RAND Corporation Senior Behavioral Scientist Rajeev Ramchand and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship Director Ronald Schouten, and was moderated by The Soufan Group Policy & Research Director Colin Clarke.
