The START training program focuses on enhancing the skills of the current homeland security workforce by providing learning opportunities based on cutting edge, rigorous research. START trainings distill original research from a non-partisan global network of scholars for use by today’s professionals. Because the hub of this network is located at a flagship public university, START is able to provide premium training experiences.
START’s practitioner-focused trainings are designed to advance the empirical basis for understanding terrorism, counterterrorism, and community resilience and to support real-world application of research findings. Participant knowledge is improved using factual baselines and proven methodologies while new skills are built to support the integration of research into policy and practice.
