The report discusses the development of the Countermeasures against Extremism and Terrorism (CoMET) Database, which catalogues government and non-government countermeasures taken in response to terrorist and extremist activities. This research demonstrated the difficulty in comparing counter measures against very different types of extremist and terrorist groups in very different socio-political environments. Further, different terrorist groups and extremist groups elicit different countermeasures, thus making it necessary to develop research approaches that are group-specific.
