START Researchers Discuss Disengagement from Terrorism

In "How to Defuse a Human Bomb,"the Boston Globe explored whether there might be effective models for "de-radicalization"--that is, dissuading individuals from engaging in terrorism in pursuit of some cause. The Globe story included quotes from START researchers Clark R. McCauley and Gary LaFree. In addition, the story discussed the work of John Horgan; START will be funding Horgan to do additional work on the idea of dis-engagement starting in Summer 2008.
