Today the Institute for Economics and Peace released the 2015 Global Terrorism Index, a report based on data from START’s Global Terrorism Database. With an interactive map and analysis, the report provides a detailed look at the changing trends in terrorism across 162 countries, over the last 15 years. It investigates the patterns of terrorism by geographic activity, methods of attack, organizations involved and the national economic and political context.
The IEP’s 2015 Global Terrorism Index highlights the increase in the number of deaths from terrorism, reporting an 80 percent increase since 2013 and the global economic costs of terrorism reaching an all-time high at $52.9 billion.
