START Executive Director William Braniff will give an enrichment series lecture on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 1:30 p.m. at START headquarters in College Park. The lecture will be called "A Tale of Two Caliphates" and will draw from an article of the same name Braniff co-authored earlier this year.
Prior to becoming START's Executive Director, Braniff served as the Director of Practitioner Education and an Instructor at West Point’s Combating Terrorism Center (CTC). He is a graduate of both the United States Military Academy, where he received his bachelor’s degree, and the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) where he received a master’s degree in international relations. Braniff lectures frequently for counterterrorism audiences including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Joint Special Operations University, National Defense University, the United States Attorneys’ Office and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. In June of 2013, he testified before Congress on American attitudes towards terrorism and counterterrorism.
This event is free and open to the public, but an RSVP is appreciated.
