University of Maryland's Center for Disaster Resilience is hosting a distinguished lecture by Paul Orzeske, CEO of Jensen Hughes, 6 p.m. Nov. 29 in UMD's St. John Learning and Teaching Center, Rm. 1224. Orzeske will discuss the future of safety and the need to include risk analysis for critical infrastructure in the design process. Orzeske is the chief executive officer for Jensen Hughes, the global leader in specialty engineering and consulting services for the built environment that focuses on evaluating risks and developing the most cost-effective, risk-based fire protection and life safety solutions. He is a guest lecturer and advisor for international business, strategy, and entrepreneurship programs at the University of Minnesota Carlson Business School, University of Minnesota Discovery Capital Advisory Board, University of St. Thomas School of Engineering, and Macalester College Business School. Orzeske has also served on several company boards and has been a member of the Gryphon Investors Executive Advisory Board as well as the board chairman for Jensen Hughes.
The lecture is part of the Kirlin Lecture Series, which is made possible by the John J. Kirlin, Inc. Lecture Fund. Established in April 1984, the purpose of the fund is to support a prestigious lecture series to promote new and creative ideas and concepts in the construction industry.
