START Headquarters
On Thursday, July 25 at 1:30pm, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Danny McGlynn, of the US Department of the Treasury, will give a career talk at START Headquarters. Danny McGlynn was named Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) for Analysis and Production in December 2011 and Principal DAS for OIA in March 2019. He currently serves in both roles. As OIA PDAS and DAS for A&P, Mr. McGlynn serves as the principal advisor to the OIA Assistant Secretary while also leading OIA's analysis and production in support of the development and implementation of policy on a wide range of U.S. national security issues, including sanctions targeting supporters of terrorism and proliferators of weapons of mass destruction.
Mr. McGlynn has over 20 years of service with the Department of the Treasury, where he has held a variety of positions in OIA and the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). He most recently served as the Acting Assistant Secretary for OIA, responsible for managing the organization’s receipt, analysis, and dissemination of intelligence related to the Department's mission to safeguard the international financial system from abuse and to combat threats to U.S. national security. Mr. McGlynn previously served as the Director for OIA’s Middle East-Europe and Iraq Issues offices, helping to lead the Department’s effort to utilize intelligence information to conceptualize, coordinate, and implement strategies to deny terrorist and insurgent groups access to funding.
During his career, Mr. McGlynn has also served as Treasury’s liaison to the United States Central Command, as a Compliance Specialist and Foreign Terrorist Programs Analyst with OFAC, and as a Presidential Management Fellow.
Mr. McGlynn received his JD from George Mason University School of Law, his MA in International Studies from Florida International University, and his BA in International Affairs from Florida State University.
