Salma Bouziani is a researcher and project manager within the Special Projects division of START. She primarily investigates Islamist extremist organizations, as well as analyzes criminal and terrorist groups that pursue radiological and nuclear (RN) material. Bouziani received her bachlor’s degree in business administration, holds two professional project management certificates from Georgetown University and is a native speaker of Arabic and French. Prior to joining START, she was a regional team leader for the Middle East at Georgetown University's Department of Integrated Biodefense and received several years of training and experience in open source research and quantitative data coding. Her research encompasses various areas relating to political instability in the MENA region, bio threats, terrorism and counterterrorism and quality control for open source data collection.
