Incident Summary:
10/16/2020: An assailant armed with a knife attacked and beheaded a teacher, identified as Samuel Paty, outside of a school in Conflans Sainte Honorine suburb, Paris, France. The assailant was shot and killed by security forces shortly after the attack. Abdoulakh Anzorov, and unaffiliated individual, claimed responsibility for the incident and stated "From Abdullah, the servant of Allah, to Macron, the leader of the infidels, I executed one of your hell dogs who dared to belittle Muhammad" in reference to the victim, Samuel Paty, who showed cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed in his classroom. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) praised the incident and took responsibility for inspiring Anzorov to carrying out the attack, referring to him as a martyr with the name "Abdallah al-Shishani."

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
