08/30/2020: Explosive devices hidden beneath the corpses of soldiers detonated between Kawkareik and Myawaddy, Kayin, Myanmar. At least two soldiers were killed and five soldiers were injured in the blast. This was one of two related incidents in the area on this date; this bombing targeted military personnel responding to a previous attack. A suspect claimed that he was trained and ordered to carry out the attack by the Karen National Union, but the group denied involvement. Sources also attributed the attack to the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA).
