Incident Summary:
08/20/2020: Assailants attacked villagers working in their fields in Wikeno, Beni, North Kivu, Democratic Republic of the Congo. This was one of two related attacks in Beni on this date. At least 13 civilians were tied up and killed between both attacks. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF).

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
