07/28/2020: Assailants opened fire on a military checkpoint in Hit, Al Anbar, Iraq. Two soldiers, including Brigadier General Ahmed al-Lami, were killed and two soldiers were injured in the assault and ensuing clash. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claimed responsibility for the incident and stated that the attack was part of its "Raid of Attrition" campaign.
