Incident Summary:
07/02/2020: A suicide attacker drove their vehicle through the gates of the residence of Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada, at Rideau Hall in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Once through the gates, the assailant got out of the vehicle armed with a firearm and was taken into custody by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) after negotiations. Corey Hurren, an active member of the Canadian armed forces, was arrested for the attack. Sources said he posted QAnon and other far-right conspiracy theories online. He stated that he was planning to die in the attack and he wanted his death to be a message of discontent with the COVID response. He also stated that conspiracy theories drove his desire to carry out the attack.
