The hostages, identified as Abdulrahman Dungus, Ishaiku Yakubu, and Luka Filubus, were killed on or before July 22, 2020. The Al-Barnawi faction (Islamic State West Africa Province-ISWAP) of Boko Haram claimed responsibility for the incident.
