05/31/2020: Assailants abducted nine civilians from farms near Katwa, Walese Vonkutu, Ituri, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Five of the hostages were killed, one escaped, and the fate of the remaining hostages remains unknown. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF).

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
