Incident Summary:

05/29/2020: Assailants armed with projectiles and firearms attacked a Burmese border patrol station in Thazin Myaing, Rakhine, Myanmar. At least four police officers were killed and nine other people, including six other officers and three family members, were abducted in the assault. The three family members were released on May 30, 2020, and the fate of the remaining hostages is unknown. The Arakan Army (AA) claimed responsibility for the incident and stated that the attack was carried out in retaliation for military operations against an AA camp that resulted in casualties.
