Incident Summary:

03/23/2020: Assailants armed with firearms and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) ambushed a military convoy in Gorgi, Borno, Nigeria. At least 179 people, including 29 soldiers and 150 assailants, were killed, while 61 soldiers and an unknown number of assailants were injured in the ensuing clash. In addition, an unknown number of soldiers were taken hostage. The outcome of the abduction is unknown. The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) claimed responsibility for the incident.
