Incident Summary:

01/30/2020: Assailants abducted a driver from a vehicle along a road in Diyala, Iraq. This was one of two similar attacks in Diyala on the same day in which a total of nine civilians were abducted. At least one hostage was executed and his body was discovered the following day. Three other hostages were released on February 18, 2020, February 19, 2020 and February 24, 2020. The fate of the remaining hostages is unknown. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
