Incident Summary:
01/17/2020: Assailants attacked Rumache, Shiroro district, Niger, Nigeria. Malam Ahmad Yakubu Rumache, the local village head, was killed and his son was abducted in the incident. This was one of five related attacks in Shiroro overnight. At least 17 people, including Rumache's son, were abducted across the five incidents, and their whereabouts are unknown. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources suspected the involvement of Fulani extremists.

Criteria
Criteria 1

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack. For example, in a typical successful bombing, the bomb detonates and destroys property and/or kills individuals, whereas an unsuccessful bombing is one in which the bomb is discovered and defused or detonates early and kills the perpetrators.
