Incident Summary:
12/24/2019: Assailants, including a suicide bomber, attacked a military base in Arbinda, Sahel, Burkina Faso. This was one of two related attacks in Arbinda on this date. At least 80 assailants and 35 others were killed and 26 others, including 20 soldiers and six civilians, in addition to an unknown number of assailants were injured across both attacks. The Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (ISGS) claimed responsibility for the incident.

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
