10/30/2019: Assailants abducted three people, including a doctor and nurse, near Lake Chad in Tchoukoutalia, Lac, Chad. The hostages were released on August 28, 2020. The Shekau faction and the Al-Barnawi faction of Boko Haram, also known as the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), separately claimed responsibility for the attack.
