08/17/2019: Assailants opened fire at the funeral of Tor Gbev Ikue Amaafu, a community leader, in Tongov, Katsina, Benue, Nigeria. At least nine people were killed and an unknown number of others were injured in the attack. This was one of two attacks by the same assailants in Benue on this day. No group claimed responsibility for the incident.

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack. For example, in a typical successful bombing, the bomb detonates and destroys property and/or kills individuals, whereas an unsuccessful bombing is one in which the bomb is discovered and defused or detonates early and kills the perpetrators. Success is not judged in terms of the larger goals of the perpetrators.
