Incident Summary:
07/25/2019: An explosive device detonated targeting a police barracks in Santiago, Santiago Metropolitan, Chile. At least eight police officers were injured in the attack. This was one of two related attacks in Santiago on this date. The Complices Sediciosos/Fraccion por la Venganza claimed responsibility for the incident and stated that those targeted "have a pivotal role both in capital management and accumulation as well as in state control and repression. They are the ones who make major decisions in strengthening oppression. There is no doubt about that, and it is because of those reasons that we attack them in their operation places."

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack. For example, in a typical successful bombing, the bomb detonates and destroys property and/or kills individuals, whereas an unsuccessful bombing is one in which the bomb is discovered and defused or detonates early and kills the perpetrators. Success is not judged in terms of the larger goals of the perpetrators. For example, a bomb that exploded in a building would be counted as a success even if it did not, for example, succeed in bringing the building down or inducing government repression.
