Incident Summary:
06/22/2019: An assailant, identified as security chief Asaminew Tsige, opened fire on a meeting in Bahir Dar, Amhara, Ethiopia. Regional president Ambachew Mekonnen and his adviser, Ezez Wassie, were killed in the assault. This was one of four coordinated attacks in an attempted coup to overthrow the Amhara government on the same day. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to a militia led by security chief Asaminew Tsige.

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
