Incident Summary:

03/18/2019: An assailant opened fire on civilians on a tram in Utrecht, Netherlands. Four civilians were killed and eight civilians were injured in the attack. The assailant, Gokmen Tanis, claimed responsibility for the incident and stated in a note left at the scene, "in support of Islam." Moreover, he further stated "I do this for my faith, you want to kill Muslims and you want to steal our faith from us, but you will not succeed. Allah is great." Sources also noted that Tanis had previously been arrested for links to the Islamic State.
