Incident Summary:
03/06/2019: Assailants attempted to extort food and money from the staff of Upavan private resort in Lakkidi, Kerala, India. Police officers responded, killing at least one assailant and injuring a second assailant. Two police officers were also injured in the ensuing clash. Additionally, an unknown number of people were taken hostage at the resort and rescued a short time later. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to Maoists.
