Incident Summary:

02/09/2019: Security forces identified and destroyed a suicide bomber in an explosives-laden vehicle attempting to target a festival in Timbuktu, Mali. There were no reported casualties other than the assailant. Jamaat Nusrat al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM) claimed responsibility for the incident and stated that the attack was carried out in retaliation for the recent arrest of a JNIM leader by the military.
