09/09/2018: Assailants attacked an unknown number police and military checkposts in Baghlani Jadid, Baghlan, Afghanistan. This was one of two attacks in the district on this date. At least 20 security personnel were killed and five were injured across the attacks. In addition, the assailants sustained an unknown number of casualties. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the incidents.

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
