Incident Summary:

07/31/2018: A suicide bomber detonated an explosives-laden vehicle at a military and Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) joint checkpoint in Colonia, Lamitan, Basilan, Philippines. In addition to the assailant, at least 10 people, including soldiers and civilians were killed, and six people were injured in the blast. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claimed responsibility for the incident; however, authorities questioned the veracity of this claim and attributed the attack to the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG).
