Incident Summary:
04/15/2018: Assailants opened fire on police personnel between Anyibe and Ayilamo, Logo, Benue, Nigeria. At least nine police officers killed and an unknown number of police officers were reported missing following the ensuing clash. Additionally, two police vehicles and several houses were set on fire. This was one of two related incidents targeting police personnel in the area on this date; this attack targeted police forces responding to the site of a previous attack. No group claimed responsibility for the incidents; however, sources attributed the attacks to Fulani extremists.

Criteria 1

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack. For example, in a typical successful bombing, the bomb detonates and destroys property and/or kills individuals, whereas an unsuccessful bombing is one in which the bomb is discovered and defused or detonates early and kills the perpetrators. Success is not judged in terms of the larger goals of the perpetrators.
