04/01/2018: An assailant armed with two knives threatened a security guard and a transit worker in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. When police arrived at the scene, the assailant attempted to attack the officers. The officers then opened fire, injuring the assailant and a bystander. A White extremist, identified as Alexander Stavropoulos, claimed responsibility and chanted "white power" during the incident.

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
