Incident Summary:

03/01/2018: Assailants armed with rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) and automatic firearms attacked a camp in Rann, Kala/Balge, Borno, Nigeria. At least eleven people, including United Nations aid workers, soldiers, police officers, and Nigerian security forces members, were killed and eight other people were injured in the incident. Additionally, at least three people were abducted in the attack. One of the hostages, Saifura Hussaini Ahmed Khorsa, was beheaded on or before September 16, 2018 and another hostage, Hauwa Amina Liman, was killed on or before October 15, 2018. The fate of the remaining hostage is unknown. The Al-Barnawi faction of Boko Haram, also known as the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), claimed responsibility for the attack.
