Incident Summary:

02/23/2018: Assailants opened fire on the pro-Pyongyang General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) headquarters in Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan. There were no reported casualties in the assault. Two assailants were arrested in connection with the attack. One assailant claimed responsibility for the incident and stated that the attack was carried out in retaliation for missile testing by North Korea. Sources also characterized the assailants as "right-wing activists" and noted that they "do not consider ethnic Koreans as members of the same society, and consider it acceptable to kill or wound them."
