Incident Summary:

02/23/2018: Assailants opened fire on Marine officers attending to the victim of an earlier attack in Cotabato City, Maguindanao, Philippines. A Marine officer, identified as Alfredo Tumbaga, and an assailant were killed and another assailant was injured in the ensuing clash. This was one of two related attacks targeting Marine personnel in Cotabato City on this date. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources identified the two assailants as Mohammad Saud Andes and Badjorie Karim.
