Incident Summary:

02/12/2018: Assailants abducted Rodney Saunders and Rachel Saunders, two British-South African dual nationals, near Vryheid, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Rodney Saunders was killed and his body was discovered on February 17, 2018 and Rachel Saunders was killed on June 13, 2018. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, authorities arrested two people in connection with the kidnapping and stated that the assailants were inspired by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
