09/24/2017: An assailant opened fire on Burnette Chapel Church of Christ in Antioch neighborhood, Nashville, Tennessee, United States. One person was killed and eight others, including the assailant, were wounded in the attack. An unaffiliated individual, identified as Emanuel Kidega Samson, claimed responsibility for the incident and stated that the attack was carried out in revenge for the June 18, 2015 attack on a church in Charleston, South Carolina by Dylann Roof.

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
