Incident Summary:

08/18/2017: Assailants attacked the residence of Lieutenant Colonel Farhan Ahmad Zarkan (Farhan al-Azzawi), a senior police officer, in Dibis, Kirkuk, Iraq. Zarkan was unharmed as he was not present at the time of the attack; however, nine people, including two assailants, were killed and two others were wounded in the attack. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claimed responsibility for the incident and accused the victims of being police personnel.
