08/07/2017: Assailants abducted Jagannath Khara from his residence in Hatibari, Odisha, India. Khara, a village sarpanch, was killed shortly after the kidnapping. The Communist Party of India - Maoist (CPI-Maoist) claimed responsibility for the incident and accused the victim of being a police informant and taking advantage of tribal members in the area.
