Incident Summary:

07/18/2017: Assailants attacked the Dole-Stanfilco banana plantation in Tago district, Surigao del Sur, Philippines. Six vehicles and other property were destroyed. The New People's Army (NPA) claimed responsibility for the incident and stated that the attack was carried out to demonstrate against the continuance of martial law in Mindanao. The NPA also stated that Dole-Stanfilco was targeted because the company acquired land illegally, utilized chemicals which were harmful for the environment, and did not provide benefits for its workers.
