Incident Summary:

07/01/2017: Assailants abducted Aydin Ahi in Ozalp district, Van, Turkey. Ahi, a local Justice and Development Party (AKP) deputy head, was shot and killed a short time later. This was one of two attacks targeting AKP deputy heads across southeastern Turkey on the same day. No group claimed responsibility; however, sources attributed the incidents to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
