01/17/2017: An assailant attempted to stab an Israeli soldier at a checkpoint in Tulkarm, West Bank. Security forces opened fire, killing the assailant. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to Nidal Daoud Mahdawi, a Palestinian extremist.
