Incident Summary:

12/00/2016: Sometime between December 1, 2016 and December 31, 2016, assailants abducted two civilians accused of theft in Taoudeni, Timbuktu, Mali. The hostages each had a hand amputated and were released in early January 2017. No group claimed responsibility; however, sources attributed the attack to Al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM).
