Incident Summary:
09/09/2016: A suicide bomber detonated an explosives-laden vehicle outside of the Nakheel Mall in Rusafa neighborhood, Baghdad, Iraq. This was one of two coordinated attacks near the mall on the same night. In addition to one assailant, at least 10 people were killed and 28 people were injured across both blasts. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claimed responsibility for the incidents.

Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack. Success is not judged in terms of the larger goals of the perpetrators. For example, a bomb that exploded in a building would be counted as a success even if it did not, for example, succeed in bringing the building down or inducing government repression.
