08/22/2016: Assailants opened fire on a military patrol in Arish, North Sinai, Egypt. At least one soldier was killed in the attack. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to the Sinai Province of the Islamic State.

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
