08/12/2016: Assailants abducted approximately 2,000 civilians to be used as human shields while fleeing the area in Sirb neighborhood, Manbij, Aleppo governorate, Syria. An unknown number of hostages were released on August 13th, 2016 while the fate of the remaining victims is unknown. No group claimed responsibility; however, sources attributed the attack to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

Criteria
Criteria 1
