Incident Summary:

06/05/2016: Assailants stabbed and shot Mahmuda Aktar in Chittagong, Bangladesh. Aktar, the wife of a Bangladesh Police counter-terrorism official, was killed in the assault. The Islamic State in Bangladesh claimed responsibility for the attack; however, Bangladeshi officials refuted the claim. Sources also attributed the incident to Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and Jamaat-E-Islami (Bangladesh). Al-Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent was also suspected to be involved in the attack, which denied involvement.
