Incident Summary:
01/09/2016: Assailants abducted 10 people in Diya, Mbomou, Central African Republic. At least six hostages were released shortly after the abduction while the fate of the remaining four victims is unknown. This was one of two separate kidnappings in Diya on the same day. At least one person was killed across both incidents. No group claimed responsibility; however, sources attributed the attack to the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA).

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
