Incident Summary:

11/24/2015: Assailants attacked an Afghan National Army (ANA) helicopter that made an emergency landing in Pushtun Kot district, Faryab, Afghanistan. At least three people, including two soldiers, were killed and 18 people, including soldiers and crew members, were abducted in the incident. Two hostages were released on September 5, 2016 while an additional 12 victims were released on September 24, 2016. In addition, two Moldovan pilots were released on February 12, 2019. The fate of the remaining two hostages remains unknown. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
